A taste of home

kuaaina.JPGKua 'Aina in Japan

I shelled out almost 1500yen for my 1/2 pound avocado burger with bacon and cheddar cheese "set." It came with a half order of fries and a little guava juice but man, I tell ya, it's a big chunk of heaven. I love this burger. I seriously believe it's the best burger ever (no, I haven't tried an In-n-out burger.) It taste just like the one back home and it's just as big too. Too bad it cost over twice as much. The fries are a little different though, shorter and less greasy. I remember sneaking away from the office and eating these things during my lunch break back in Honolulu. It's a good thing there are 13 Kua 'Aina shops in Japan now.  Now, as long as I have the money I can go get one whenever I want! (^_^)/

How that DOES look good for a Japanese attempt at a hamburger, but pardon me if I ask if it tastes like plastic?

I shouldn't be so picky... French hamburgers aren't any better.

The first thing I had in Maui have been a tuna sandwich which somehow looked like this and with it there were such greasy chips that I left them to my husband, hehe! ^_^"

Sammy: Actually Kua 'Aina started in Hawaii. Then it opened a couple shops in Japan and I guess it took off and got more and more popular. It tastes awesome, the best ever! It actually tastes the same as the one back home except they slice the avocado different here.

Aoi: Well if you ever come back to Japan or go back to Hawaii and visit Oahu, I highly recommend going to this restaraunt. So yummy!

The thing I like about Kua 'Aina is that it's probably one of the only places in Japan where I can get a half decent turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread. I don't care if it cost 1200yen, gotta have my turkey sandwich.

I've had Kua Aina, In-N-Out, Carl's Jr., Teddy's, and a whole lot of other burgers from other places. Perhaps the best is White Castle. So ghetto. So good.

I used to love the Kua'Aina burgers and, whenever I was in Tokyo, I would stop by and stuff my face. I always found their chips very tasty, but strange. And those burgers, well, they were just fantastic! You're so lucky, Rick; I wish I could sink my teeth into one of those.

Roy: I never thought to have anything other than a burger at Kua 'Aina. Another friend of mine can't get enough of their pastrami sandwiches. It's like going to a Ruth's Chris steak house and then ordering a spaghetti! To each his own I guess. :)

Aaron: You mean White Castle is a real place? Not just a place that Harold and Kumar went to??

Kinga: They're fries not chips! ;)

It's real. And it's the shizzle.

Rick,
Sorry, it's all those years in the UK...chips, fries...tomato, tomato.. ;)

Aaron: I checked out their website, looks like White Castle has the simple is better take on hamburgers. Similar to W&M's burgers near St.Louis Heights or the Diner's burgers back in the day when it was still open. Different catergory from the jumbo gourmet style burgers like Kua'Aina I think.

Kinga: You're forgiven, people make mistakes. ;)

haha, I'm trying to find the japanese website for kuaaina, and your link is on the second page of google, so I dropped by to say sup. Man, W&M--good stuff right there. Thank God Kuaaina is in Japan. My comfort food. Well, back to google and looking for the Japanese link.
