8 to 5

So this is what it feels like!

It's been over 3 years since I've had a job with a normal shift. For the past three years I've officially worked from 1PM-9PM. Eikaiwa first, and then night school after that. But I'm happy to announce that starting April 5th, I've returned to the normal 8PM-5PM working day. No more sleeping at 4AM everyday. No more waking up at 12 noon. I was sick of finishing work and see all the shops already closed. Sick of waking up too late to be able to get anything done. I feel like I'm a human being again! I finish work, and EVERYTHING is still open. Hallelujah! Doh! It's already 12:49AM. Way past my bed time!

Waking up early sucks. If I had a choice, I'd just bartend and work nights and sleep all day. Getting up for this engineering gig really blows. It's been 2 years, and I still am not used to it. See how you feel in a couple of weeks.

With the late shift, you still could have gone to bed early, got up early and gone to the shops early. But I know that's hard. For 8 years I did a 2-10pm shift with Tues/Wed off. Luckily my GF at the time was a flight attendant so we could have the same days off often.

Anyhow, why the change? Did you find a new job?

By the way, when you get older waking up early becomes easier. I can not explain why.

I have no problems waking up at 5am almost everyday including weekends.

welcome (back) to the real world!

yup...i can wake up at 6a every day, even on the weekends. it kind of sucks because if i do decide to go out on friday night, i can't sleep in on saturday mornings and am dead tired by the end of the day!

So you got yourself a new job? Congratulations! As you start it at the same time as all the college graduates, do you also have to wear a black suit for the coming weeks/months/years?

Aaron: Well I did do the engineering thing back in HI for about 5 years. I think the tough thing about that was that my ex was living the night life. And staying up late worrying about her kept me from getting good rest. For you it must the amount you drink! I hear alcohol actually makes for a shallow sleep.

Roy: I didn't get a new job. I just went to a new school! A normal day school and so far it's AWESOME! - 5AM? What are you? 60?

Keiki: Well you've been training yourself to wake up early since Levi's been around. That's a lot of training!

J: Well a suit for the the self introduction and then again for the opening ceremony. But never again until graduation!:D
